The first half of the class was spent discussing OT and what it was... I think. It was after lunch and jet lag was getting to me... I fell asleep. The second half was spent looking at the products and ideas brought in by the presenter. A number of people were able to ask her questions about their particular child during this time also. Below is a list of ideas and activities for a sensory diet.

  • Fun ideas for motor planning (T stool, stretchy bands)
  • Blow pens
  • Concentration - the game
  • Nuk brush
  • Swing on belly on swing, twrill around, then give a direction, go get X,Y,Z and put it in the bucket, swing, spin, go get
  • Obstacle Course : Put pictures, letters etc in course. Time child to go through the course and collect specific items. Go find the B
  • Lay on belly on floor to write, forces smaller movements and lighter touch. Makes pencil grasp easier
  • Put small lego or something under last two fingers of hand to force pencil grasp and give tactile feedback on how grasp feels
  • Squiggle Wiggle Writers or smelly markers
  • Fighting the Slumps: Heavy Work, wheelbarrow walk/crab walk, "push the wall overâ"

Additionally, I took pictures of some of the stuff that was displayed. The pictures are on the main page at this link, Photos.
